The Philippine Women’s Football team started the second round of the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament with a win after holding Iran scoreless last Wednesday night, at Doha, Qatar.
Two of the goals were scored by Joyce Semacio and Alisha Del Campo in the second half of the game. With this win, the Filipina footballers nabbed their first three points of the second round and are now tied with Chinese Taipei for the top-seed of the tournament.
In order to quality for the third round, the Philippines must outlast Taipei and attain the top seed of their group. If ever they get to do so, they will go up against Australia, China, North Korea, South Korea, and Thailand as they fight for a spot in the 2020 Olympics.
The Philippines’ crucial next game against Chinese Taipei will take place on Saturday, Apr. 6 at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
