Getting into Triathlon
It’s a given fact that the best way to complete a full race is to start with short-distance events. The Penong’s 5150 and the GFG Sunrise Sprint are the most ideal for triathlon newbies as well as those who have graduated from Ironkids races and want to level up in the sport.
The races will give participants the feel of a triathlon race with the 1.5-km swim at the beachfront of Waterfront Insular Hotel, followed by the two loop bike ride, and the 10-km run on the Daang Maharlika Highway. Participants will make the turnaround at KM5 and head south where they will run by the beach area to cross the finish line.
“The distance is still challenging for the novice triathlete and we hope to encourage many individuals to start with this distance. As more and more people seek a healthier lifestyle, triathlon is well positioned to attract many new participants,” said Sunrise Events Founder Wilfred Steven Uytengsu.
Aside from getting more people into the sport, Penong’s 5150 and GFG Sunrise Sprint are also good opportunities for participants to get into the active lifestyle. Sports such as triathlon is an attractive way to encourage people to get into fitness because of the appeal and diversity of the sport.
