Alex Eala became the first Filipino since 2009 to win a Grand Slam title after she and Indonesian teammate Proska Nugroho dominated the Australian Open Juniors double tournament  last Jan. 31, Friday in Melbourne, Australia.

The Southeast Asian tandem swept their match against Slovenia’s Ziva Falkner and Britain’s Matilda Mutavdzic (6-1, 6-2) in just 45 minutes to claim their sixth title together. Eala and Nugroho have been teammates since 2017.

Eala also joined the singles tournament where she reached the third round—her best singles finish yet in the Junior Grand Slam. The 14-year-old is currently aiming to make it to the top five junior rankings in order to qualify for the women’s tournament.
