With this season’s theme of “doing more,” the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is encouraging more students to support their men’s and women’s basketball teams every Wednesday by offering discounted tickets at P35.

Led by host Ateneo de Manila University, the move is called’ Student Wednesdays’ in which tickets for upper box and general admission at both the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia will only cost P35 each.

“We want to encourage more students to watch. With social media, the games are easily accessible, but nothing beats watching the games live. Because of this, we have been trying to find ways to promote student participation,” says UAAP president Em Fernandez.

This will give students the opportunity to support their respective schools as well as experience the college basketball scene in the country up close. Student Wednesdays will run throughout the elimination round.

This season, the Wednesday schedule features four basketball games: women’s at 8 a.m., followed by three men’s matches at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. After the 12:30 p.m. game, the venue will be cleared and a separate ticket will have to be bought to watch the last game.
