After winning gold in the men’s individual all-around category on Monday, Dec. 2,  gymnast Carlos Yulo once again copped gold in the floor exercise final the following day at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Olympics-bound gymnast kicked off his SEA Games debut by receiving top honors in his category. The pint-sized powerhouse earned a score 14.700 from the judges, thanks to his impressive floor exercise routine. Thailand’s Tikumporn Surintornta finished second with a score of 13.833, while Malaysia’s Asri Zul Bahrin Mat nabbed bronze with 13.767.

Yulo, known as the first Southeast Asian male to become a world champion gymnast, finished top three in all six events on the first day of the tournament. The 19-year-old also finished second in the still rings event (13.600), vault (14.900), and parallel bars (14.400), and third place in the pommel horse (13.600). Today, Yulo dethroned back-to-back gold medalist Reyland Capellan to capture his second straight gold for the Philippines.

Up next for Yulo are the men’s pommel horse and still rings finals in which he aims to capture more gold medals.
