The Japan Para Sports Association has called off the Paralympic wheelchair rugby test event that was scheduled from Mar. 12 to 15 in Tokyo.

According to the Tokyo Olympics Committee, athletes who were set to fly to Tokyo for the test events were notified to postpone their trip due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that continues to threaten the games starting on Jul. 24.

There are still 17 tune-up events that are set to take place in the coming weeks but there is no decision yet on whether or not they will be postponed as well. Moreover, Tokyo organizers are still deciding on the status of the Olympics as this continues to be a concern due to the increasing number of COVID-19 victims around the world.

As of writing, the virus has infected more than 90,000 people around the world with 3,100 deaths reported. It has also been detected in more than 70 countries.
