So the 2020 Century Tuna Ironman Philippines won’t be happening this year after all.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Philippines, Sunrise Events general manager Princess Galura announced on June 10, Friday that the race will be rescheduled to June 6, 2021 instead.

“In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognize that the postponement may come as a disappointment but look forward to providing athletes with an exceptional race experience in the future,” says the organizers in a Facebook post.

In addition, both Ironman 70.3 Cebu and Davao have also been rescheduled to 2021.

The 2020 Century Tuna Ironman Philippines, which was supposed to take place in June, was first moved to October. However, given that the country is still dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, the organizers together with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority have decided to instead hold the event next year to prioritize the health and safety of the community.

All athletes who signed up will be receiving an email about the postponement.
