Nation celebrates as Jordan Clarkson joins Gilas Pilipinas at the Asian Games
Filipino basketball fans around the world are celebrating Jordan Clarkson’s participation at the 18th Asian Games taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“I have always dreamed about representing the Philippines someday and finally that day has arrived!” said Clarkson to Heineken who spoke to the Filipino-American star soon after the announcement. “I am happy, of course, to be fulfilling my dream but I am even more honored to have the unique opportunity to represent the world-class talent of the Philippines on two global stages: the Asian Games and the NBA. This could only have been made possible with the love and support of my family, and of all my kababayans. I will continue to do my best to make my country proud and I hope to inspire young Filipinos to always follow their dreams.”

In addition to Clarkson’s exciting inclusion in Gilas Pilipinas, he was also conferred with the honor of serving as the flagbearer for the Philippines during the opening ceremony.
The Philippines’ love for basketball is no secret and it was also this intense passion for the game and amplified aspiration that ultimately decided for Heineken to tap Clarkson as its local ambassador.
