With the new Aro Series, Oakley has forged the future of helmets

Oakley’s Aro Series helmets address all biking frustrations and even comes in a horde of colors, options, and designs

With a multitude of cycling helmets to choose from, it’s easy to get lost trying to find the perfect head gear. And when you do finally find one, you discover that it’s not the perfect fit—too tight, too loose, no eyewear compartment, or even too enclosed. That’s exactly the thought process behind Oakley’s new Aro Series.

“Oakley has always been known for innovation and this year, we’re introducing the Aro Series to the cycling community,” says Oakley Philippines marketing manager Louren Lacanlale. “Three different helmets that address different issues about head gear like space, fit, and eyewear integration.”

Riding safer

Oakley has always involved athletes in product development, allowing them to design products geared towards function. And in focusing on different purposes, the ARO3, ARO5, and ARO7 have the potential to make cycling safer and more approachable.

Each is equipped with MIPS brain protection system, a low friction layer separating the shell and the lining to reduce rotational motion on angled impact to provide riders with superior protection

Each one is equipped with MIPS brain protection system, a low friction layer separating the shell and the lining to reduce rotational motion on angled impact, as well as an EPS protective foam to absorb impact and road vibrations to provide riders with superior protection.

What’s also game-changing about the Aro Series are the innovative touches Oakley has incorporated in the designs:

1. BOA® FS1-1 system. A 360-degree fit system where a dial tensions the TX1 lace, a soft, flexible, and thin lace that lies flat inside the helmet for a more snug and custom fit with less pressure on your temples. It also makes it easier to use sunglasses as it doesn’t compete with space.

2. X-STATIC® Brow Pad. This draws off liquid and inhibits bacterial growth to keep you odor-free.

3. Eyewear docks. The ARO3 and ARO5 are decked out with an eyewear dock so you can stow your glasses and easily access it when needed. The ARO7 meanwhile includes two visors that you can swap out between Prizm™ road and clear lenses. These are guided with magnetic attachments that keep the visors in place.

If you’re not entirely sure what helmet is best for you, here’s a closer inspection of each of the helmets:

ARO3

The ARO3 is all about ventilation and cooling. It’s made for riders who challenge climbs under the heat. It is built with an augmented ventilation system that ensures you keep your cool as you ride, thanks to its large and long vents that let air flow as you speed through. The ARO3 is available in three sizes and seven colors.

ARO5

The ARO5 is made for speed and for sprint finishers. Compared to the ARO3, it has fewer vents and a condensed tail for a more aerodynamic model. The ARO5 is also available in three sizes and seven colors.

ARO7

The ARO7 is crafted for aerodynamics and took inspiration from racecar design. Though it has fewer vents for cooling, this is your helmet of choice if you are a time trialist or a triathlete. It’s designed with a short tail so you can move your head freely without too much aero drawback.

The ARO7 uses a Fidlock magnetic strap buckle closure like Oakley’s snow helmets—a magnetic buckle that locks from any angle and releases in one direction for a quicker helmet fitting. You can get the ARO7 in matte black and white.
