Hidilyn Diaz nabs silver at Asian Weightlifting Championships

Hidilyn Diaz ends up on the medal podium once again, but this time in a tougher weight class

After moving up to the 55-kilogram category, Hidilyn Diaz bagged three silver medals at the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships (AWC) in Ningbo, China. According to Inquirer Sports, the Southeast Asian Games gold medalist lifted 94 kilograms followed by 115 kilograms, and a superb 209 kilograms to claim the silver medal for the Philippines.

China’s Liao Qiuyun won the tournament with a record lift of 128 kilograms, 96 kilograms, and 224 kilograms to clinch gold. The AWC serves as the Olympic qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Diaz will represent the country for the fourth straight year with the goal of finally bagging a gold medal.
