It was a one-two punch for the Philippines with Monica Torres and Joey delos Reyes delivering in duathlon

Monica Torres dominated the 30th Southeast Asian Games duathlon event on Monday, Dec. 2 at Subic Bay Boardwalk in Zambales after finishing the race in 2:08:45.
Torres separated herself early in the race and finished the 10K run in 38:16 and the 40K bike sequence in 1:08:23. Thailand’s Sonsem Pareeya came in at second with a time of 2:11:18, while Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh bagged third with a time of 2:14:20.
Despite competing in her first SEA Games, the 34-year-old Torres has been dominating international tourneys for the past three years. She’s also known as the fastest Filipina in the Philippines’ Ironman 70.3 circuit for the past six years now.
Joey delos Reyes wins silver in men’s duathlon
The Philippines also secured a podium finish in men’s duathlon, thanks to Joey delos Reyes. Delos Reyes secured his silver after finishing the race in 1:53:04, just behind Indonesia’s Jauhari Johan (1:52:51). Thailand’s Nattawut Srinate settled for bronze with a time of 1:53:05.
