For those privileged enough to stay at home, they have either been productive with household chores or new indoor hobbies.

However, some are simply just lounging and watching television or aimlessly scrolling through social media while raiding their kitchen cupboards for snacks. Although there isn’t anything wrong with the latter, your sedentary lifestyle may be putting your health at risk. 

A sedentary or inactive lifestyle refers to a life with little to no physical activity. This could pose a number of risks to your body such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart diseases and even higher levels of depression and anxiety.

The best way to avoid an inactive lifestyle is to simply start exercising. This doesn’t mean immediately signing up for a gym membership or creating an intense workout plan right off the bat. You could start by simply moving around at home. And dancing might be a quick fix.

Luckily, these TikTok dances have been gaining popularity, especially now due to the need to practice social distancing and with all the extra time to kill during quarantine.

If you’re looking for a quick and fun workout, these dance crazes are the perfect challenge for you to get moving at home. The choreographies are much harder than they look, but since they’re pretty short, it’s rewarding to learn them. Luckily, many TikTok users have also posted step-by-step tutorials on how to do these viral dances.

The Renegade

Created by 14-year-old Jalaiah Harmon, this dance craze is perhaps the most popular to date. The young dancer is trained in hip-hop, jazz, lyrical dance, tumbling, and tap and has now conquered the internet with millions of people dancing to her Renegade choreography.

Say So

Doja Cat’s “Say So” went viral on TikTok when Haley Sharpe created a choreography for it in December 2019. She was even featured in the song’s music video released early this year.

Number One Baby

This one is the most straightforward since the steps simply mimic the song lyrics (“…make the girls go crazy… treat her like your number one baby”), making it easier to remember. Although the featured song is “Relationship” by Young Thug and Future, it was the “Number One Baby” line that caught on and was popularized through the viral dance trend.

Millions of TikTok users have already made their own versions of these dances and the trend has encouraged a lot of Gen-Z and millennials to join in. Even NBA stars have dipped their toes into TikTok. Many dance tutorials are also on YouTube so even if you don’t have a TikTok account, you know where to check them out.
