These days, even a staycation isn’t considered a pass for fitness enthusiasts who want to sweat it out. Hotel guests don’t just want a good location, in-house dining options, and nearby attractions. They also look for in-house gym facilities, swimming pools, and accompanying wellness venues.
In the United States, many hotels have transformed their offerings to attract guests who make fitness routines an imperative part of travel. Anything from personal training sessions, group running sessions, and round-the-clock gym classes have been included to cater to different lifestyles.
The good news is that local hotels are keeping up by offering modern gym facilities and hiring professionals to assist guests. If you are planning a staycation with some serious time for working out or welcoming out-of-town relatives and friends who cannot live a day without exercise, here are some places where you can stay in and stay fit.
Conrad Manila
The Pasay-based hotel invites guests to “exercise at a time that suits” them at their 24-hour fitness center. Here, they offer advanced equipment that comes with integrated 16-inch personal viewing screens featuring over 80 channels. Personal trainers are available for one-on-one sessions and visitors who want to mingle can sign up for aerobic classes.
Guests of all ages can also enjoy Conrad Manila’s infinity swimming pool inspired by the “pristine coastal seas of the Philippines,” according to its website. It has a shallow section for kids while adults can swim laps on waters with a depth of 1.6-meters.
Well-deserved pampering treatments can be scheduled at Conrad Spa Manila where a variety of therapies, including sleeping pods with oxygen concentrators can be availed. There are six individual treatment rooms—including two couples’ rooms and four single rooms—with soaking tubs as well as private sauna and steam facilities.
Marco Polo Manila
How about working out with the Sierra Madre in sight? The Ortigas-based hotel offers this unique experience to guests who work out at Flow, its in-house fitness center. Those who prefer city views can enjoy a dip at the indoor infinity pool on the 22nd floor.
Marco Polo Manila also offers rejuvenating services at Flow Spa at its Flow Wellness and Recreation Center. Here, guests can pamper themselves with foot reflexology, whole-body massages, and “facials by the brand Algotherm, a marine-based line from France, which utilizes seaweed extracts and other marine ingredients.” Try the Flow Signature Massage to experience “a fusion of Eastern and Western techniques using a special blend of essential oils perfect for after-work hours.”
Shangri-La at the Fort
A handful of celebrities and personalities often post about their workouts at Kerry Sports Manila. The 8,000-square meter facility is described as “Manila’s most comprehensive sports and leisure club.” It has two floors and includes a 25-meter outdoor lap pool and hydrotherapy pool with special jets; an NBA-grade indoor basketball court; two covered outdoor tennis courts; and exercise studios for yoga, Pilates, spinning, boxing, and mixed martial arts.
And take note, parents can work out while the kids enjoy the 1,000-square meter indoor playground in the facility as well. The gym is open 24 hours daily while the fitness studios and courts can be used from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy healthy meals and juices at Kerry Sprouts. Various sports and therapeutic massage treatments can also be enjoyed at their dedicated physiotherapy rooms.
Grand Hyatt Manila
As part of the five-star hotel’s #LivingGrand philosophy to “bring moments of more to everything,” guests can experience its 24-hour fitness center equipped with “high-tech cardio and strengthening equipment.” Here, they can subscribe to customized fitness plans or work out with on-site personal trainers.
An elevated whirlpool to soothe muscles or detoxify can also be used after intense sessions. Guests can also enjoy Grand Hyatt Manila’s “expansive turquoise swimming pool” surrounded by a landscape of greenery and a Zen space for meditation. Opening soon is the Illume Spa and Fitness slated to be a “haven of tranquility and an indulgent retreat for healing traditions and utmost relaxation tucked away from the bustling city life.”
