Only two weeks left before we finally watch the awaited “Black Panther” film, and fans just can’t wait to see Chadwick Boseman in action. And like all superhero actors, everyone’s more than a little curious on how he trained for the role.

Boseman was already fit when he played the Black Panther role in “Captain America: Civil War” but it can still take months for actors to develop a body fit for a superhero. Unfortunately, Boseman hasn’t been too vocal about what his workout for Black Panther is like. When E! News asked about his training, he said “A lot of strength and flexibility, but I’m not going to say anymore.”

Unlike Thor and Captain America, his character T’Challa is more known for unique fighting style that focuses on stealth, speed, and martial arts. Though he’ll be building muscle with compound lifts and bench presses like other superheroes, he’ll need to focus on higher reps for a shorter time according to one article to promote muscle hypertrophy for leaner muscles.

Combat training also consists of many different martial arts like capoeira, karate, kung fu, and jiu-jitsu. He mentioned to South China Morning Post that he also did gymnastics when he was alternating between training for “Civil War” and losing weight for his other film “Marshall.”

It’s likely that his workout for “Black Panther” would be more intense, especially since he’ll be going up against the athletic Michael B. Jordan, who plays Erik Killmonger in the film. The movie will be showing in cinemas on Feb. 14.
