Valentine’s Day is usually a time for chocolates, wine, and a decadent dinner with someone you love. But while it’s tempting to indulge excessively, it might not be for everyone. For the health-conscious out there, they would prefer to literally care for their hearts instead.

Here, we’ve listed ways to spend Valentine’s Day that are equally healthy and fun. Feel free to come up with your own ideas  and try something different too. It doesn’t need to be in the same place you’ve always been before–love is all around us, after all.

1. Share a healthy meal

From food deliveries to sit-down locations, our local health food scene has never been this robust. Health buffs can opt to go fancy and try out 100 percent vegan and gluten-free restaurants in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) or hole-in-the-walls in Kapitolyo. For that intimate yet nutritious candlelit dinner at home, you can have food delivered from various services.

2. Treat yourselves to a couple’s massage

A good massage has been known to have numerous benefits for the body such as relaxing tense muscles and improving blood circulation. Getting a good couple’s massage will not only make you feel better individually, but you and your special someone can use this time to bond and enjoy quality time together. Wellness establishments like the I’M Onsen Spa in Makati, Le Spa in Sofitel Manila, and The Spa in BGC have services catering especially to couples.

3. Explore nature

Outdoor dates offer breathtaking views of nature as well as a great cardio workout. You don’t need to venture far either. Trail Adventours has a list of hikes near Manila that you can try. For a different outdoor experience, go on a Bambike tour, where guests ride bamboo bikes to explore history in Intramuros, discover the eclectic vibe of Poblacion, or see the variety of street art strewn across BGC.

4. Try cupid’s weapon of choice

In both Greek and Roman mythology, Cupid owns a bow and arrow, which he often used to make people fall in love. For humans like us, archery can help strengthen the upper body, especially your arms. It can also develop mental fitness and improve concentration skills. Several spots in Manila that can teach you how to nock your arrows properly include Gandiva and DMZ Archery.

5. Find warmth on the ice

Figure skating is not just for singles, it’s for pairs, too. Channel your inner Winter Olympian by going on a skating date with your loved one on the coolest dance floor ever. Select SM Malls have their own rinks that offer affordable ice time for everyone who wants to try. Don’t be afraid to fall. That ice may be cold, but your date is right there to keep you company.

  • Last valentines day , I surprised my boy friend when I installed a portable pole dancing pole in our lounge. I got the pole to keep fit but it was fun to see his face when he got home from work to see me pole dancing.
