The Philippines starts the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) on a high note after claiming two gold medals in the triathlon tournament held at Subic Bay Boardwalk in Zambales on Sunday, Dec 1.

It was John “Rambo” Chicano’s first place victory that bagged the country’s first gold medal in the biennial tournament. Chicano finished the race in 1:53:26—marking a SEA Games record as well. Not long after, Pinoy triathlete Kim Remolino finished in second place clocking in 1:55:03. The duo completed the third straight 1-2 finish by the Philippines in SEA Games men’s triathlon.

The women’s team also secured one gold and silver medal courtesy of Kim Mangrobang and Kim Kilgroe. Mangrobang successfully defended her title after finishing the race in 2:02:00 while Kilgroe made it another 1-2 finish with a time of 2:05:02. Both tandems completed a successful sweep as the Philippines rules triathlon once again.
